Vagi Steam Bath. Traditional medicine teaches us that when a woman gives birth, her womb is cold and needs heat to restore the chi for correct healing.Herbal Baths and Vagi Steam baths bring heat to the womb. The use of specific herbs adds layers of different healing benefits and healing actions. The combination of herbs work to nourish, tone, heal, bring in fresh oxygenated blood, promote cleansing, and make supple the vaginal and uterine tissues. The moist heat opens the pores of the tissues it comes into contact with. The water vapor carries the medicinal benefits of the plants, including volatile oils. This is absorbed into the tissues and enters the bloodstream, having a direct healing affect on the reproductive system. Vaginal tissue is one of the most absorbent of the entire female body. Other benefits from a Yoni Steam Bath would be those with the following conditions: Uterine FibroidsPainful MenstruationUterine WeaknessUterine ProlapseIrregular Menstrual CyclesOvarian CystsEndometriosisReproductive Adhesion/Scar TissuePrevious Vaginal Tear or EpisiotomyDark Purple or Brown Blood at the Onset or End of Menses In some cases a woman should not do Yoni Steam Baths, these are:Extremely Heavy Menstrual PeriodsDuring your PeriodVaginal InfectionOpen WoundsSores or BlistersIf you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant. Note: If you have genital piercings, take them out, the heat will cause the piercing to burn you. It is NOT recommended to add essential oils to your steam bath.

Herbal After Birth BathAfter each birth, I offer a medicinal herbal bath for my mothers. This blend of herbs helps to reduce swelling, promotes healing of bruising and tearing of the perineum, used as an antiseptic, haemostatic and most of all it is soothing. The mother and baby will get into the bath of healing waters tea (within two hours after birth) and share a warm bonding moment together. The following days, it is encouraged to have the mothers continue healing by doing the yoni steam bath with the same herbs for one week following birth. A sitz bath basin which sits into the toilet bowl proves to be effective as well. Or, the mother may choose to pour the tea into a Peri bottle and rinse her yoni with this tea after each bathroom visit.Birth in the Tradition has a portable steam bath stool which is made available for two weeks after birth to her clients. This is a very simple process which takes less than an hour out of your time. Mother’s love this bath.
